Only two teams appear to be interested in the former Raiders quarterback as of now.
Ever since being released by the Raiders, there have been two primary teams reported to be interested in Derek Carr: the Jets and Saints. According to Carr’s brother, David, the quarterback visited New York this weekend and shared how things went.
“Derek had a great trip. He went there to get a feel for how they work from the top down,” David said. “We knew he would love Robert Saleh. He’s fantastic and they hit it off and they would love to work together. But there’s a lot of questions that have to be asked.”
The NFL Network analyst added that it’s going to be a “long process” as Carr continues to weigh his options.
The Jets have one of the best young rosters in the NFL, but struggled at quarterback in no small part because of Zach Wilson’s growing pains as he continues to try and navigate being a pro signal-caller. New Orleans is also a team that is in desperate need of a quality starter after rotating between Jameis Winston and Andy Dalton during the year.
Carr previously met with the Saints while he was still with the Raiders but instead of a waiving his no-trade clause he elected to be released. In 15 games this past season, he passed for 3,522 yards, 24 touchdowns and threw 14 interceptions.
