Spurs rookie Victor Wembanyama is enjoying a fast start to his NBA career, exhibiting his length, athleticism and scoring prowess to quickly become one of the league’s top young players.
While San Antonio has struggled out of the gates once again as a team, Wembanyama is on pace through his first 10 games that puts him in the presence of a franchise legend.
In his first 10 games, Wembanyama averaged 19.7 points, 8.8 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 2.4 blocks on 45/30/77% shooting splits. Compared to NBA Hall of Famer and Spurs icon Tim Duncan, Wembanyama has comparable numbers.

Through Duncan’s first 10 games, he averaged 16.0 points, 11.6 rebounds, 2.1 assists and 2.5 blocks on 59/0/49% shooting splits. The one statistic that stands out is Duncan’s lack of three-point shooting compared to Wembanyama, which exhibits the rookie’s versatility, as well as how the NBA game has changed.
While wins have been hard to come by for the Spurs in the early going, there is no doubt they have a budding star in Wembanyama, who appears to be living up to every bit of the billing as one of the top prospects in the history of the NBA.
