The Patriots unexpectedly won a road game against an AFC playoff contender Thursday night, but this season has been anything but normal in New England.
Even after Thursday night’s win against the Steelers, the Patriots are just 3–10 on the season, which is the worst 13-game start under Bill Belichick in 24 seasons as head coach in Foxborough. As the losses have piled up, so has the speculation regarding the future Hall of Fame coach’s future. Amazon Prime Video commentator Al Michaels couldn’t help but speculate during Thursday’s broadcast.
Could he coach the team next year? Could he be traded to another franchise? Could he get fired by owner Robert Kraft?
Michaels went a different direction.
“How about this? If he goes into television, they put him in the booth with Kevin Burkhardt and Tom Brady next year on Fox. Or he goes on tour with Jon Bon Jovi,” Michaels quipped.
Al Michaels and Kirk Herbstreit speculate on the future of Bill Belichick.

Belichick, of course, is a noted superfan of the rock band Bon Jovi, and that wasn’t lost on Michaels. However, perhaps the more interesting route would be television, where Belichick could impart his football wisdom to the viewing audience while opening up the entertaining side of him that his players have raved about for years.
The Patriots return to action Dec. 17 against the Chiefs (8–4) at Gillette Stadium. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m. ET.
