Northwestern coach Chris Collins got his money’s worth at the end of the Wildcats’ 105–96 overtime loss to No. 2 Purdue Wednesday evening.
With one second left in the contest, Collins went after official Courtney Green for a questionable no-call on guard Lance Jones. Green threw Collins out of the game, and the Northwestern boss proceeded to dutifully shake hands with Boilermakers center Zach Edey and coach Matt Painter as well as egg on Purdue’s students before exiting the premises.
The Big Ten was not so courteous to Collins.
On Friday, the conference issued Collins a public reprimand and $5,000 fine for his actions, stating that it “expects all contests involving a member institution to be conducted without compromise to any fundamental element of sportsmanship.”
Chris Collins was ejected in the final seconds of tonight's OT loss at No. 2 Purdue.

Collins generated controversy after the game as well by drawing attention to the game’s free-throw disparity. The Boilermakers took 46 foul shots against just eight for the Wildcats and were able to avenge a 92–88 overtime loss to Northwestern on Dec. 1.
