In their first season as college teammates at Villanova, Jalen Brunson and Josh Hart won a national championship. Now, they’ll get the chance to make magic together again in the NBA.
Hart was traded to the Knicks on Wednesday night, per ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, reuniting him with Brunson for the first time in their professional careers. And Brunson couldn’t contain his excitement upon hearing the news.
The Knicks point guard was back at Villanova to get his jersey retired on Wednesday night, and had his (NSFW) reaction caught on camera.
Brunson and Hart each started 39 games for the Wildcats during the 2015-16 season, when Brunson was a freshman and Hart was a junior. The latter led the team in scoring, and was named to the Final Four all-tournament team.
Brunson and Hart made 75 and 74 starts, respectively, during their two seasons as teammates at Villanova, with the Wildcats posting a 67–9 record during that span. The Knicks enter Thursday at 30–26, in possession of the No. 7 seed in the Eastern Conference.
