The incident occurred on Monday night in the French Quarter of New Orleans.
LSU wide receiver Malik Nabers was arrested for illegally carrying a weapon, according to the Orleans Parish Sheriff’s magistrate court. Nabers was released, and the court did not require him to post bail.
Nabers was arrested on Bourbon Street in New Orleans’s French Quarter at around 7:30 p.m. Monday night when officers noticed he was carrying an “L-shaped object” in his pants, according to NOLA.com. Nabers then was arrested when he told police he didn’t have a permit upon questioning.
An LSU spokesperson told ESPN’s Pete Thamel that Tigers coach Brian Kelly is aware of Nabers’s arrest.
Last season, Nabers played in 14 games as a sophomore for the Tigers. He recorded 72 catches for 1,017 yards last season, leading the team in both categories. He also recorded three touchdown catches in 2022.
Nabers had the second-most receiving yards in the SEC in 2022 and was one of only two wide receivers in the conference to surpass 1,000 receiving yards.
